how to download video clips from a videocamera onto my computer with a usb?
i have a canon video camera and the usb is hooked up to my mac computer.. but nothings popping up to ask if i want to download the clips.. and i need it for my project.

Basic Download (No Software)
Step 1Connect one end of your USB or i.Link (Firewire) cable to the USB or i.Link port on your computer. Connect the other end to your USB or i.Link port on your computer. Turn on the camera.
Step 2Click on "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" and click on "OK." Select "Cancel" if you get a prompt list that does not include this option, and then open Windows Explorer manually by clicking "Start," "All programs," "Accessories," "Windows Explorer." Navigate to your camera (it will appear as a drive) and then double click your camera to see the video files inside.
Step 3Select the files you want to download.
Step 4Right click and select "Copy" or "Cut," depending on whether you'd like to keep the original files on your camera.
Step 5Navigate to a save location for the file downloads using Windows Explorer. Then right click and select "Paste." Your files should be transferred from your camera to your computer.
Windows Movie Maker (USB)
Step 1Connect your USB or i.Link cable to your camera's USB port. Connect the other end to the USB port on your computer. Turn on the camera.
Step 2Open Windows Movie Maker by clicking "Start," "All Programs," "Windows Movie Maker."
Step 3Click "Capture from Video Device" in the "Movie Tasks" pane on the left side of the Windows Movie Maker window.
Step 4Click on your camera in the "Available Devices" list and click "Next." Name your video and select a save location on your computer for the file. Click "Next."
Step 5Make sure the default video settings are selected in the video settings page that comes up and click "Next." Click "Capture Video" on the "Capture Video" page that appears. Click "Stop Capture" when you are done recording. Repeat the "Capture Video" and "Stop Capture" process for all of your clips, and then click "Finish."

USB disconnects in middle of video
I have just bought a brand new Samsung TV, Model number of this TV is Samsung ln32c550. As there is a function by which you canwatch the videos on this TV directly attaching the USB drive on its side panel. But when i tried the same then it start so well but suddenly what happens i do not know but videos gets disconnected with the USB and got an error that device is disconnected.

I there must be something wrong with your USB itself as your TV can detect the USB driver perfectly but when it comes play the content from the USB drive then it does not support for something in between that. It might happen that your usb would be having any kind of viruses in it which makes it unreadable for the TV.

I think you should have a talk about an usb hard drives supported by your model of TV as it also can happen that the type of usb drive you would be using on your TV would not be supported by the TV. Have you tried inserting some other drive, is it happening with all the usb drives or the just one drive you have tried yet. If so then you must try it with some other as well.

I did not got your problem exactly. Is it happening with the all of the files in your usb drive or you are trying just one file from your usb drive. Even if you are trying the same file all the time then is it disconnecting it at the same point of time in the video playback or it just gets disconnected randomly irrespective of file or time.

Best way to test this is to first of all manage to get 2 or 3 usb drives then format all of them manually and then automatically as well. After formatting them put the videos in those usb drives and make sure that you have putted the all the types of video formats which are supported by your TV. Then check all the usb drives with the different videos and make sure that you note the timings when your video (usb) gets disconnected.

I guess your TV would not be having any problem regarding playing the Video or an Audio files from your usb drive as it is not a common kind of problem seen on any TV supporting for the usb. If does not supports for the any of the USB drives then i think you should contact with the dealer directly and check with the same issue on your TV in front of the dealer.
