High availability or High Speed?

With the Continually bettering broadband speeds and infrastructure, where does the priority/need for "high speed" and "high availability" lie on the scale?
Do we have to compromise one for the other or do we have to compromise with our pockets? But the million dollar question is does common mass actually require "high availability"? For instance, My local cable provider ( Beam Telecom ) provides me 2Mbps unlimited at 1000 Rs/month ( and 256Kbps unlimited at 400 ), which is better than any provider I know of ( No fair usage or 'k'rap like that ) . The service may not be the best"est", but again I have no complaints, except for minor glitches or down times. This does my job, saves time and money, in which I can only get 1/4th of the speed from Airtel. No offense Airtel, I envy your reliable service and may be you cater to the corporate needs better, but where do you leave people like me, who wants speed but a little flexible concerning availability and willing to save some bucks ? - Looking for alternatives ?

In my humble opinion, we should encourage the small players and bring them to a level comparable to big players like Airtel/Reliance/Tata, and leave them no options but to improve the service. We should make sure monopoly doesn't prevail, so that the costs won't rise to the skies, leaving the middle/poor class just be able to dream of broadband or internet for that matter. I am looking forward for India to have "National broadband plans", in near future, just like any other developed countries do, which can spread awareness among the population.

High availability or High Speed?

What type/provider of high speed internet do you use and why?

Do you like who you use?
Have you tried others and if so why are you currently with the one you have?
If you don't like the provider you have, why and what are you planning to switch to?
What is the cost of the high speed provider you use (U.S.)?

I use Verizon wireless on a Toshiba Laptop. Unlimited high speed, anytime, anywhwere. $60 bucks a month for a single person ain't bad. Don't need to upgrade my cell phone or service for internet (too old to see the screen anyway), just keep my laptop handy.

Dish Network High-Speed Internet Service Guide

Some cable companies let you believe Satellite TV providers such as DISH Network and DIRECTV don't provide high-speed internet service. This is not true. As a matter of fact, both DISH Network and DIRECTV offers two kinds of high-speed internet to bundle with their Satellite TV services. Now let's take a quick look at the DISH Network high speed internet here.

The first high-speed internet service that DISH Network offers is high-speed DSL. DISH Network partners with your local Telco companies such as Frontier to offer Satellite TV and high-speed DSL internet bundle service in selected areas. If you live in such areas, good for you. High-speed DSL internet provides the download speed up to 20 Mbps, yet costs much less than average cable modem bills. With high-speed DSL internet, you can download files in a matter of seconds. And you won't miss phone calls while you are online via DSL internet service, because DSL system keeps the Internet connection separate from your home phone line. You are able to get wireless modem/router options just as what you get from cable companies, except that you pay an average of $20 less per month with DISH Network DSL service.

If you live in an area without DSL coverage, you can still get high-speed internet from DISH Network. DISH Network and WildBlue join together and offer a high-speed internet that covers the whole continental US. So you can get DISH Network high-speed internet, even if you live in a rural area without cable or DSL service coverage. With a download speed up to 1.5 Mbps, you will be able to download music, videos and pictures within seconds via the high-speed internet powered by WildBlue. DISH Network and WildBlue's high speed internet is more expensive than DSL service, with 3 different plans starting from $49.95 per month. You can choose from Silver, Gold, or Platinum plans and pick one that works best for you and your family. In addition, DISH Network offers one-billing solution for customers that take both Satellite TV and high-speed internet. So all charges will appear on one single DISH Network bill, which means you can receive and pay a singal invoice for both services.

For more information about DISH Network high speed internet, I recommend you checking out Satellite TV Info. It is a specialized Satellite TV info website that provides you with all the useful information about Satellite TV and Satellite TV provider. By reading that website, you can save hours of searching for the best Satellite TV deals, comparing Satellite TV to cable, or researching for differences between major Satellite TV providers. Be sure to try that webiste.
