Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-82838 82-Inch 1080p 3D DLP HDTV. The world's largest 3D Ready HDTV for the home, Mitsubishi's 82-inch Diamond Series WD-82838 1080p DLP Home Cinema HDTV offers almost four times the viewing area of a small screen 42-inch flat panel TV. - Immersive Sound Technology with 16 intelligent speakers (producing 32 total watts of power) that direct perfectly balanced audio waves beside and behind the user to reproduce 5.1 surround sound and create an unparalleled entertainment experience. Through the use of an advanced algorithm, the sound technology delays the sound beams and projects them independently from the 16 speakers at varying intervals, to create fully immersive surround sound.

- Integrated Hdtv Tuner receives both over-the-air HDTV broadcasts (received via an antenna) and non-scrambled digital cable broadcasts, including non-scrambled HDTV cable programming.
- HDMI Control (CEC): HDMI devices with Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) capabilities may be compatible with the TV's HDMI Control feature. Compatible devices can receive control signals through the HDMI connection, allowing the TV's remote control to operate some functions of these devices.
- Easy Connect function automatically recognizes when you plug in a device and prompts you to assign a name to it. The TV ignores any unused inputs, so the result is an uncluttered menu where you can easily find and select connected devices by name.

I purchased this TV to replace a Panasonic 65" Plasma TV. First of all let me say how delighted I am with Amazon's customer service and policies, when I first ordered the TV I mistakenly ordered the non-3D version of it, and did not realize my mistake until after it had been shipped to me. However, Amazon's policies on TV purchases made it possible for me to cancel the order and receive a complete refund! As far as the TV itself is concerned, the main drawback I have found is it's relative dimness when compared to the plasma TV it replaced. I really found it necessary to only use this TV in a darkened room to really appreciate it. The other drawbacks I found were 1) The TV was completely dead upon original installation, and even though I was using professional installers it took them an hour of messing with it trying to get a picture, before they called Mitsubishi customer service who advised them to unplug the TV, wait a minute or two, and thn plug in again to allow the internal computer to reset itself. Secondly, I am using the TV with a Sony PS3 as it's 3D input, and after hooking everything up, I was unable to get a 3D image. When I called Mitsubishi, they told me it was necessary to return the PS3 to Sony for a firmware update. This was not true. After reading reviews of other 3D TVs I found it was only necessary to properly set up the display properties in the Playstation settings menu. Once all this was done, I found the overall experience to be absolutely breathtaking with both Blu-Ray 3D movies and the Avatar 3D game. I am using the Mitsubishi shutter glasses and the overall experience is much better than with the red/blue or polarized glasses you are given in the theaters showing 3D movies. I recommend this TV if you want the size and are able to darken the room you are using it in. I have never watched a 3D plasma set so I cannot comment on whether their 3D is as impressive as on this set.

This TV is by far the best value for your money you will find just about anywhere. Like many of the reviewers previously, I have owned many TVs over the years; Sharp, Sony, Toshiba, Pioneer etc. Those TVs ranged from projection, LCD to plasma. This is my first Mitsubishi and my first experience with DLP. I couldn't be happier.
While it does take a little time to "warm up" when it is first turned on, the resulting image is well worth the very short wait. Colors are vibrant and picture detail and sharpness are both outstanding. Every time my son visits (he's into the latest technologies) he repeatedly comments on how great the picture is. I have had the TV for 2 months now and I have absolutely no complaints. I heartily recommend this unit.
We have had this set for 2 months now. Each time we watch this TV on a great HD transmission, we are blown away by the unbelievably detailed images and fantastic but realistic saturated colors. At a price of around $900, this must rate as an absolute bargain. Those of you contemplating an LCD or Plasma TV, just stop for a minute and re-think your requirements. With cost, quality and size all a magnitude better than other format equivalents, don't end up regretting your expensive decision up the road. If your TV image doesn't cause a sharp intake of breath, then you probably don't have the correct TV or you have paid 4 times the price!!
My only other comment is that this TV does NOT appreciate component cables, you MUST use a FAST HDMI cable. At a cost of $25-50 or so, this is a small price to pay for stunning pictures, especially if you have just save $2500+ on the TV.
