TV Broadcasting/Radio Broadcasting/ ISP Backbone Via Satellite - Major Developments in the Field of Technology
Radio broadcasting is referred to as the process of using radio technology, which has emerged as a great source of entertainment. Radio broadcasting started in1920's and today there is numerous radio stations all over, broadcasting by means of transmission. All the equipments necessary for this broadcasting process are easily available but there are always possibilities of changes in requirements, with new criteria of transmission for example: Dab Digital Radio and DRM. The ones that are most frequently used are AM as well as FM with its RDS.
VHF FM is best suited for the areas that are densely populated. The reason behind this is that its effective bandwidth enables it to broadcast high quality transmission stereo and services like RDS. Radio broadcasting is an audio function and it uses radio waves, an electro magnetic radiation in order to broadcast from a transmitter to a receiving antenna. For transmitting the exact same kind of programming, stations are required to be connected to the radio networks. However with the advent of internet distributed radio, radio broadcasting is losing space. But it hasn't lost its identity as still there are few stations broadcasting on shortwave bandwidth, making the use of AM technology that can reach to far distances. Weather conditions and solar systems are important factors on which the broadcasting depends.
Internet Service Provider (ISP) enables the use of internet for the customers with the usage of data transmission technology, ideal for giving Internet Protocol Paradigm, like dial-up, DSL, cable modem, wireless or dedicated high-speed connection. Also email accounts are provided to the users to communicate through electronic messages using their ISP's servers. To expand the scope of their LAN - Local Area Networks cost effectively, entrepreneurs are provided with wireless service by ISP backbone via satellite which is quite helpful. This innovation ensures high speed communication services even in the distant areas without any need to spend money on installing landlines and telephones instruments. ISP backbone via satelliteservice is brought into function when Wi-Fi or WIMAX technology is connected with satellite backbone connectivity for the availability of video streaming, IPTV, internet access and video conferencing with the help of wireless network.
TV broadcasting has proven to be another effective socializing tool enabling easy and effective transmission of news as well as much other information. Television has shown a way towards enhancement in communication and also other major developments in the broadcast industry. Two major examples of such developments are DTH (direct to home) technology and satellite teleport services that have proved major development broadcasting industry and this is not the end as we are yet to see more.
Today, all these inventions have proved to be extremely beneficial as we are availing advanced sources of communication as well as entertainment.

Where can I find a reasonably priced portable shortwave radio?
I want to buy my dad one so he can listen to Chicago Cubs
in Florida. I prefer Amazon.com but will try elsewhere.
Thank you
Unless that game is broadcast on the VOA , (which is unlikely) you will not be able to pick up the game on a shortwave radio.
Shortwave is mostly used for external services , and as such carries little local sports events.
Of course they do have sports shows that have a wrap up of the bigger games....but rarely full broadcasts live.

Radio Kootwijk $82.85 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Radio Kootwijk is a small town in the Dutch municipality of Apeldoorn, with (in 2006) ca. 120 inhabitants. The housing accommodations of Radio Kootwijk arose as a result of the building of a shortwave transmitter site with the same name, starting in 1918. Radio in Honduras $109.93 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Radio in Honduras dates back to 1928, when the Tela Railroad Company established Tropical Radio. The first commercial radio station, Radio HRN, dates to 1933. In August, 1920, a group known as Los Chicos del Coliseo, began broadcasting from Teatro Coliseo in Buenos Aires. It would take many years for radio to arrive at faraway countries, like in the isthmus of Central America. In Honduras, for example, someone had begun to experiment with local transmissions. Investment from the USA known as bananeras, were just a few of the companies providing employment before and after World War II. In 1928, the Tela Railroad Company, one of the major two, had secured a license to establish its radio station known as Tropical Radio. Its signal located on the dial was in the 51 meters, shortwave. This historic fact, therefore, establishes HRB, La Voz del Tropico, as the first radio station of Honduras. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Radial (Radio) $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In radio, evenlyspaced points along evenlyspaced radials or lines through a common point on a map, are used to determine average elevation above mean sea level (AMSL) within a radio stations coverage area (including broadcast stations and mobile phone towers, among others). This in turn determines height above average terrain (HAAT), which greatly affects a stations range (more so than effective radiated power), and potential for interference with other stations. Stations at low frequencies like shortwave and the AM broadcasting band also require grounding or earthing wires to be buried in the soil in a radial pattern, in order to have a proper ground plane. These wires are also called radials, ground radials, grounding radials, or earthing radials. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. The Benefits Associated with Owning a Hand Crank Radio
Owning a hand crank radio is beneficial in numerous ways. In essence, this type of device is designed for emergency based situations. In most situations, the radio is medium to large in nature and is designed with a special crank unit that functions by rotation or a pulling motion performed by the user. As the crank device is being manipulated, energy is created within the unit. This energy is then effectively converted into a type of electricity which permits the user to listen to the radio and perform other tasks without the use of standard electrical power or batteries. However, despite the fact that these units are not dependent upon a power source or batteries, they usually include a power cord and a battery unit so that these options may be used in addition to the crank source.
If you live in an area that is prone to disasters and emergency type situations such as earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes, a crank radio will prove to be exceptionally useful in numerous ways. Not only do you typically have the capability to listen to both AM and FM frequencies, many of these units allow you to hear other radio types and frequencies as well. Examples of these frequencies include the NOAA Weather Radio station as well as local shortwave channels. During serious emergencies, access to these frequencies will permit you to hear immediate weather conditions, emergency procedures that are being performed in your community, as well as other types of essential information that may protect you and your family. These are just the main benefits associated with a hand crank radio.
In addition to offering you the latest news and reports associated with situations and events that have occurred or are in the process of occurring in and around your region, a hand crank radio also has many features that may prove to be extremely valuable when an individual faces an emergency. Examples of the features that you may find on these devices are as follows:
• Built-in Flashlight
• USB Charger for Cell Phones
• Bottle Opener
• Solar Function Ability
• Line Input Units for Audio Devices
These features are highly beneficial - especially when there is no immediate power source. If you are interested in purchasing a <a href="http://www.safetyfirstsurvival.com">hand crank radio</a>, it is important to research all of the features associated with the device. You will want to purchase units that are resistant to water contact, those that include a lighting source, a charger that will assist in increasing energy levels with certain devices such as cell phones, as well as other features that will assist during the event that an emergency occurs. It is also important to ensure that the device is compact and easy to operate. By taking the steps to ensure that a hand crank radio is user-friendly and comes complete with features that may assist you during emergency type events and situations, you will be able to choose a hand crank radio that will prove to be exceptionally beneficial to you in several different ways.
