UHP Technology and Projector Lamps

In projection systems, a projector lamp is the key component. Every time we buy replacement projector lamps, we look for projector lamps that would work better and last longer. Now, you can get the best of both worlds by opting for lamps that make use of Ultra High Performance (UHP) technology. UHP projector lamps definitely have an upper hand over traditional projector lamps in both areas.

Apart from longer lamp life, UHP lamps have several other advantages. These lamps have a compact design in contrast to big, bulky, and heavy traditional projector lamps. The smaller size doesn’t compromise on the performance in any way. UHP projector lamps deliver a greater level of brightness than traditional projector lamps. So you can expect a better picture quality.

Most of the traditional projectors make a lot of noise when in use. This sound can be very distracting. UHP projector lamps are the perfect solution to this problem. The quietness with which these UHP lamps perform comes as a refreshing change.

Overheating of projector lamps has always been a cause for concern. But UHP lamps put an end to this perennial problem. Projector lamps with UHP technology use relatively less energy to run. So they don’t get as hot as traditional projector lamps. This means they’re good for the environment too.

With so many advantages, it will definitely be a wise decision to opt for UHP replacement projector lamps than traditional projector lamps. To shop for any kind of projector lamps of the highest quality, visit BulbToGo.com.

How do I know if my projector needs a new lamp?

I've had it since September, and it says the lamp life is supposed to be 2000 hours. But in the last week or so, I've noticed the picture is much dimmer than it used to be. I've put it on the brightest setting and it's still much darker than the picture on my computer screen. The only thing I can think of is that the lamp needs replacing, but I just don't understand how it could be worn out so quickly.

Make sure the projector is getting good air flow and is staying at a decent temperature, as excessive heat can cause decreased functionality and shorten the life of the lamp. After this is all set, make sure that you spend a few extra bucks (they're expensive enough already, I know!) and get a "well known" brand with a good reputation, as some brands can differ from others.

Most lamps also are rated at *so many hours a day* use. Meaning: using it 6 hrs a day everyday will get about 2000 hrs, but using it 10 hrs a day everyday will reduce it to 1200 or using it 3 hrs a day every day can increase it to 2500 or so, so you may be using it for what the manufacturer considers "excessively". All things to consider before buying of course...

If all else fails and your next bulb dies way too fast also, there could possibly be a faulty power supply or something, and you'd have to get in contact with the maker for that one, but let's not jump ahead just yet...

Projector Lamps and Its Benefits

Projector lamps are the main components in any projector. These are responsible for showcasing the image, information or any video on a large screen for a large audience. These projector lamps are used in a wide variety of fields namely education, business, marketing and so on. Nowadays their popularity has further increased by using them in home theaters and DVD players.

Most of the projector bulbs are made of halogen which produces the light necessary for the input of the projectors. But halogen projector bulbs have characteristic that they produce a streak of yellow light and so the original color of the image or text is disrupted. So nowadays, the lamps are made of metal halide for projection. This is much better since they produce white light and remove the presence of yellow shade in the information being projected. This also improves the clarity of the information.

Since projector lamps are used in a variety of fields, the projector bulbs they use and their working will differ slightly according to their need. But almost all projectors have some things in common. Almost all lamps use mercury for producing light and are called UHP lamps (Ultra High Pressure). These projector bulbs are very similar to those present in the streets. There are also few projector bulbs which use xenon in the place of mercury. These are very efficient and produce results of high quality and clarity. However these are very expensive but at the same time effective.

As every electronic device has its own pros and cons, projector lamps also have their own. Projector lamps are highly beneficial since they are available at any instant of time and at affordable price. Depending on the need and utilization various classifications of lamps are available. Compared to any other projector, LCD projector lamps have the largest life span from 1000 to 4000 hours. They seem to be the most cost efficient projectors ever. The quality of these lamps is extremely good since they there are not much flaws in imagery. Moreover these lamps do not require much attention and care when compared to all lamps used in practice.

Projector lamps have also some disadvantages and are more intricate than it seems first. Some projectors do not come with housing and or a cage. These projector bulbs are the most dangerous. When the housing or cage in these projector bulbs are absent then the high pressure tube is susceptible to damage. The tube contains mercury vapor at high pressure. When this highly pressurized mercury vapor seeps out of the projector bulb, they are inhaled and so cause permanent damage to the lungs. This makes our lives at risk too.
