Are there connectors available that would able me to connect my ipod directly to my powered speaker?
I have a powered speaker(400 watts) that I use for live shows for my band, but I also want to use it for parties so I was wondering if there were connectors available so I can plug the ipod directly into the powered speaker? The powered speaker only has a 1/4 input jack and two jacks for mics.
Yes. There is a band here in Pittsburgh that does that all the time. You'll need some adaptors from the most likely place, which would be Radio Shack. You'll get robbed for them, but you have to take your iPod there and see what you need. I only use the shack when I have to look at something I need. You could try Circuit City and Best Buy too. Or buy online from a supply house.
Also - just to be sure - check your impedance matching. You want the iPod output to be matched as close as possible to your input impedance for your amp system. I don't know if the iPod output is overdrive protected. In otherwords, if your output drive from the pod is 20 ohms, and your input z to your speaker system is say, 8 ohms, you're driving the iPod output hard. Most outputs are overdrive protected today but not all. Don't want to see you fry your pod. So check.
