The Great Depression And The New Deal: A Very Short Introduction $7.19 The New Deal shaped our nation's politics for decades, and was seen by many as tantamount to the "American Way" itself. Now, in this superb compact history, Eric Rauchway offers an informed account of the New Deal and the Great Depression, illuminating its successes and failures. Rauchway first describes how the roots of the Great Depression lay in America's post-war economic policies--described as "laissez-faire with a vengeance"--which in effect isolated our nation from the world economy just when the world needed the United States most. He shows how the magnitude of the resulting economic upheaval, and the ineffectiveness of the old ways of dealing with financial hardships, set the stage for Roosevelt's vigorous (and sometimes unconstitutional) Depression-fighting policies. Indeed, Rauchway stresses that the New Deal only makes sense as a response to this global economic disaster. The book examines a key sampling of New Deal programs, ranging from the National Recovery Agency and the Securities and Exchange Commission, to the Public Works Administration and Social Security, revealing why some worked and others did not. In the end, Rauchway concludes, it was the coming of World War II that finally generated the political will to spend the massive amounts of public money needed to put Americans back to work. And only the Cold War saw the full implementation of New Deal policies abroad--including the United Nations, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund. Today we can look back at the New Deal and, for the first time, see its full complexity. Rauchway captures this complexity in a remarkably short space, making this book an ideal introduction to one of the great policy revolutions in history. |

Politically Incorrect Guide To The Great Depression And The New Deal $14.89 In this timely new P.I. Guide Murphy reveals the stark truth: free market failure didn't cause the Great Depression and the New Deal didn't cure it. Shattering myths and politically correct lies he tells why World War II didn t help the economy or get us out of the Great Depression; why it took FDR to make the Depression Great; and why Herbert Hoover was more like Obama and less like Bush than the liberal media would have you believe. Free-market believers and capitalists everywhere should have this on their bookshelf and in their briefcases. |

Welfare, Democracy and the New Deal $100.37 Although Franklin Roosevelts New Deal is remembered in large part because of the aid and assistance it brought to millions of unemployed and indigent Americans, surprisingly little has been written about federal relief for unemployment. The great experiment of the Federal Emergency Relief Act had implications that went beyond its immediate purpose: it challenged directly the deepseated conviction that the relief of poverty was a local responsibility, and in doing so highlighted the deficiencies of local selfgovernment. In reviewing the experiment of the F.E.R.A. and the New Deal, Professor Brocks book raises important questions about American attitudes toward welfare, local government, and national responsibility. Author: Brock, William R. Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 388 Publication Date: 2002/08/22 Language: English Dimensions: 9.00 x 6.06 x 0.90 inches |

The New Deal By Hiltzik, Michael $22.13 Franklin Roosevelts New Deal began as a program of shortterm emergency relief measures and evolved into a truly transformative concept of the federal governments role in Americans lives. More than an economic recovery plan, it was a reordering of thepolitical system that continues to define America to this day. With this book, writer Michael Hiltzik offers fresh insights into this inflection point in the American experience. He shows how Roosevelt, through force of personality, commanded the loyaltyof the fiscal conservatives and radical agrarians alikeyet the same character traits that made him a great leader would sow the seeds of the New Deals end. Understanding the New Deal may be more important today than at any time in the last eight decades. Conceived in response to a devastating financial crisis very similar to Americas most recent downturnthe New Deal remade the countrys economic and political environment in six years of intensive experimentation, and provided a model for subsequentpresidents who faced challenging economic conditions, right up to the present. From publisher description. Take an Aspirin and Deal with It $24.69 Take An Aspirin And Deal With It was inspired by her 7 year old son when he kept telling her he couldnt go to school because his head hurt and his belly ached. She remembered the phrase her father would say to her when she was younger and would complain of aches and pains, Take An Aspirin And Deal With It . She then penned the clever and witty rhyme, My head hurts, my belly aches, my back feels like its going to break My tooth is sore, my neck is kinked, my halitosis really stinks .... She then put the rhyme to music. Its a fun musical duet that can be performed at school fall/spring programs for parents and also at different community events and talent shows. Its sure to have the audience rolling in laughter. Its a great book for families to read and sing together. (The song lyrics are illustrated out in book form and the sheet music is at the back of the book.) The children enjoy the hilarious rhyme as well as the dramatic facial expressions, while parents enjoy how true to life it is. Omron Pedometer HJ112 - Where to Find Great Deals
If you found this article, I am assuming that you are looking for some great deals on the Omron Pedometer HJ112.
Well the good news is that if you look in the right places, you can find some really low prices on this pedometer. Continue reading and I'll tell you how.
But first, I would like to tell you that many people are interested in this pedometer and for good reason. It really is a great pedometer!

Why is the HJ112 So Great?
First this pedometer will help you get on track and reach your fitness goals. By simply keeping track of your steps, miles walked, or calories burned with this device it will allow you to visualize your level of physical activity. Sometimes visualizing the lack of activity is all that is required to motivate a person to exercise more and with this device you can track your progress every step of the way.
Another reason this pedometer is so great is because it is very accurate. Both the experts and everyday users agree that the pedometer really does give an accurate count of your steps weather they are normal steps or aerobic steps. Moreover, the accuracy of the pedometer is not affected by its positioning. It will be just as accurate in a purse as it is in your pocket. This can be attributed to the dual-axis acceleration sensor which allows the pedometer to accurately counts steps when placed horizontally or vertically.
One last reason this pedometer is so great is because it has a large screen and is very simple to use. It only has three large buttons on the front panel. It does exactly what it was designed to do without having unnecessary and complicated features. So if you are "technically challenged" then you do not have to worry. Even you can easily operate the HJ112!
How to Get a Great Deal
The Omron pedometer HJ112 is quite popular and so you will find a lot of stores carry it online. However, it can be hard to search through all the stores to find the lowest price.
My advice is to just to browse a site that finds these deals for you. You don't have to spend hours browsing from store to store yourself.
