I need help with storage ideas for my dvd collection, any advice?
I'm moving into an apartment and I don't want to take too much space with my dvd collection. The dvd cases take way to much space and I have about 1000 movies. Is there anything I could buy to take my dvds out of the dvd cases and store and protect my dvds with their original dvd case covers instead of keeping the dvd cases? Hopefully you get what I saying. I need help. No rude answers please. Thanks! 
they cost anywhere from 16 to 20 bucks a piece but are so worth it.you should do away with your cases and get some cd books.i think the big ones hold something like 240 movies. you won't regret it.they make looking through your movies so much easier too.

Hey, I'm glad you could make it back to another one of our articles on DVD Storage Furniture. The year 2000 was a big year for home entertainment as it marked the first serious year of DVD player distribution, the birth of the Playstation 2 (which was also a DVD player) and the announcement of the Xbox from Microsoft for the following year. Given those factors, is it any wonder that DVD organization and storage has become such a problem in most homes?
So as time went on and we traveled into 2003 and 2004 people soon found that their homes had been taken over and held hostage by their growing digital media collections. The obvious solution became one that had been around since DVD's first appeared on retail shelves, but so few people acknowledged as a need until then and that was of course the various kinds of DVD storage furniture. The kind of DVD storage furniture that you select to use in your home depends on your storage capacity needs for the most part. Almost any kind will work wonders towards helping you eliminate the clutter and chaos associated with expansive digital media collections.
Now comes the fun part - figuring out what size piece of DVD storage furniture that you need to buy. When working with people it has been found that the most common error that they make is to purchase something that just simply hold their collection as it currently stands, and certainly won't be large enough to have the capacity for any future growth in their digital media collection. Don't be one of these people. Make sure you avoid this pitfall by buying a piece of DVD storage furniture that will hold your current collection with an additional 25% capacity at minimum to hold any future additions that you may and inevitably will have.
How to Guide:
-When floor space is at a premium and you don't have more than a few hundred cases to store, using wall mounted DVD racks are almost always the best route to take.
-If you have a medium sized collection of more than 200 discs, than using a larger DVD storage cabinet may be an even more ideal solution for you.
-Even larger DVD storage cabinets are the route to take if you have more than 500 discs to sort and store.
