Datacraft Solutions Appoints Timothy Briggs as Chief Operating & Financial Officer
Datacraft Solutions, Inc., a provider of digital kanban automation solutions to lean manufacturers, has appointed Timothy Briggs as its Chief Operating & Financial Officer (COO / CFO). In this role, Briggs will oversee all of Datacraft’s operations and finance, including financial reporting, product development, marketing, customer implementation and support. Briggs has also been appointed as Secretary of the Corporation.
Briggs’ appointment builds upon Datacraft’s recent sales momentum, and augments the management team the company has assembled. His experience building operational and finance teams and process will be important to the growth and scalability of the company.
“Tim’s extensive management skills, energy, and experience are a welcome addition to our team,” said Stephen Parker, CEO of Datacraft. “His experience in high growth, venture backed companies, will be a valued asset to our management team and the company.”
With more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing and high technology, Tim was most recently a Partner with Rankin McKenzie, a professional services firm providing interim chief financial officer services to emerging growth companies. Datacraft Solutions was a principal client of Mr. Briggs over the past three years. Prior to his consultancy, Tim had held senior executive financial and operations positions with private and public companies, including Tavve Software, HealthMatics, BSG and Sun Microsystems. During his tenure at Sun Microsystems as Group Controller of R&D, Sun was the one of the fastest growing companies in history. Tim holds a B.S.B.A degree from Northern Michigan University.

how do i justify an engineering assistant - am chief engineer for a manufacturing company?
It's your throughput. If you've got more work than you can handle, then it's cheaper to get an engineering assistant. That part's easy. The hard part is what you can handle. If you're not willing to work your weekends and evenings, and your employer accepts this, then you can easily demonstrate that the project you are working on will bring x dollars of savings/revenue to the company, and that hiring an engineering assistant to get it delivered on time will return the company y. At this point, it's reason. But, if you've been willing to work harder without the compensation, then why should they start paying an engineering assistant when they've gotten that work out of you for free?

Mike Clark of Clark Properties started a new venture beyond his real estate development and management services. In February, Clark and partners Tom Barnewolt and Tim Surmeier launched Eco Recycling, a concrete recycling company, on a 27-acre site in Pagedale. concrete recycling
Clark, chief executive of the new venture, said he has been in talks with the Behan family for three years to develop the site of the former Hill-Behan Lumber Co.'s lumber yard in north St. Louis County. The site, which has been idle since 2001, includes 17 vacant buildings.
Clark signed a six-year lease on the property, beginning in January, with a purchase option. Eco Recycling is set to begin receiving demolition concrete and asphalt. The company will begin selling the crushed rock within a month. concrete recycling
Clark estimates it will cost $1.5 million over six years for environmental cleanup, to demolish the structures and to raise the elevation of the site 25 feet to increase its marketability. The partners are using private funds to finance the project. Eco Recycling's strategy is to have the concrete recycling business pay for the costs associated with developing the land. The long-term goal is to develop the site for commercial use, such as light manufacturing or industrial space.
The Pagedale site's central location makes it an attractive option for other developers or municipalities that need to dispose of concrete or asphalt, Clark said.
